BUS TRANSPORTATION AND TOLL FREE NUMBER AVAILABLE TO HELP EASE TRAFFIC EXPECTED FOR CENTENNIAL EPIPHANY CELEBRATION


Tarpon Springs, FL (December 21, 2005) --- The 2006 Patriarchal Epiphany Visitation Committee has established a toll free number for transportation questions, 866-441-6576, and will operate bus service January 4 – 7, 2006 to handle the large number of people expected to attend the various events surrounding the visit of the Ecumenical Patriarch and the Centennial Epiphany Celebration.

Bus service will be free of charge and will operate from the Greek Orthodox Churches in the area starting on Wednesday, January 4. Locations and pickup times for each event are listed below:

January 4, 2006 Welcoming Ceremony at the Clearwater/St. Petersburg Airport

St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral – 12:45pm and 1pm

St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church – 1pm

St. George Greek Orthodox Church ( and parishioners from Christ the Savior Greek Orthodox Church) – 12:30pm

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church – 1:30pm

St. Stephanos Greek Orthodox Church – 1pm

St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church – 1pm

St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church – 11am

Westin Innisbrook Resort – 1pm

January 5, 2006 Celebration of Youth

There will also be a shuttle into Tarpon Springs on Epiphany Day running from the new St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Parochial School at 2801 Keystone Rd. (and the First Church of Christ across the street from the Parochial School), the field on the southeast corner of McMillan Booth and Keystone Rd. (entrance to the field is on Keystone Rd.), the K-Mart and Publix parking lots on the northwest and southwest corners of U.S. 19 North and Tarpon Rd. in Tarpon Springs. The shuttle service will begin at 7am and continue every 20 minutes until 3pm. From will be a shuttle on the hour from 3 till 6pm from the Glendi at the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs to all the parking lots.

The Patriarchal Epiphany Centennial Celebration marks the 100th anniversary of the Epiphany Celebration in Tarpon Springs, FL and is the first time the Ecumenical Patriarch has visited a church in the United States during Epiphany.

The weeklong series of activities includes a Patriarchal Celebration of Youth, Patriarchal Epiphany Clergy/Laity Luncheon, Patriarchal Epiphany Liturgy and Retrieval of the Cross at Spring Bayou, two-day Epiphany Glendi at the Sponge Docks and a concert featuring renowned Greek tenor Mario Frangoulis and the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra at Tampa Bay’s Sun Dome.
